The purpose of all the three tests (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE) is to check your English profiency  for academic or professional purposes and is accepted by many universities worldwide, there are some key differences to take in consideration. Firstly, format-wise, TOEFL and IELTS can be done on paper or computer, while PTE is computer-only. IELTS even has separate versions for academic and general training, whereas TOEFL focuses on academic English. Scoring also differs – IELTS uses bands (1-9), TOEFL uses points (0-120), and PTE uses points (0-90). Where these tests are accepted can vary too. TOEFL is a favorite in North America, while IELTS is more common in places like the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. PTE is becoming more accepted but you might need to check with specific institutions and at last the length of the tests varies. TOEFL is the longest at around 4 hours, followed by PTE at 3 hours, and IELTS, the quickest, at 2 hours and 45 minutes.
